EVENFLOW Participates in Data Week 2024 | LU

EVENFLOW marked its presence at Data Week 2024, an important European event for data-driven innovation. EVENFLOW, coordinator Thanasis Poulakidas delivered a presentation on December 10, 2024, during the session titled Building the Future of Decision-Making: Human-AI Collaboration, Trust, and Compliance in the Age of AI.

The session explored the intersection of human and AI collaboration, focusing on hybrid decision-making systems that leverage the strengths of both entities. Participants delved into various AI models such as Large Pre-trained Models (LPtMs) and distributed / collaborative machine learning (e.g., neurosymbolic learning, active learning), which enhance human-AI teaming by combining human creativity and contextual understanding with AI’s data processing and predictive capabilities. The session also covered approaches to fostering trust and transparency through Explainable AI (XAI) techniques that can be used in conjunction with the above-listed models (e.g., neuro symbolic AI), which ensure that AI systems are interpretable and align with ethical standards. Finally, the discussion addressed the compliance of different projects with regulatory frameworks, particularly the EU’s AI Act, which mandates risk-based compliance measures for high-risk AI systems to safeguard human rights and safety. Overall, attendees gained insights into creating AI systems that are not only innovative and able to efficiently interact with humans, but also compliant with emerging legal standards for Trustworthy AI.
